Okanagan Spring Brewery Collaboration

It’s difficult to imagine skiing without beer. As far as beverages are concerned, it is certainly the most intertwined with our chosen sport and lifestyle. Sorry, Redbull. Separating the two seems both impossible and irresponsible. Given that we are in the ski industry, it would follow that we are no stranger to a beer or two. Consequently, we’re also no stranger to working with those who make beer. While our first brewery-based collaboration required a passport, our second really brings things home. So close, in fact, that a briskly paced walk would have us there in less than half an hour.

From day one of our humble beginnings, teaming up with local beer crafters, Okanagan Spring Brewery, has been a dream. As a pair of local manufacturers creating high-quality products in Vernon, BC, combined with the storied history of beer and skiing that was already discussed, the relationship certainly makes sense. Last year, OK Spring realized a tasty rebranding effort, and everything lined up for us to join forces on a project.

Keeping their branding guidelines in mind, we played off their logo to create the “OK Skiing” graphic. Reminding users to “Please Ski and Drink Responsibly”, the custom topsheet features the works of Kelowna based photographer, Geoff Holman. Big White earns the honours as the local representing ski hill, with the Falcon Chair taking the tips and the Cliff Chair grabbing the tails.

Geoff has been part of the Skevik team effort for several seasons now, contributing amazing imagery for our website and promotional materials, and it was awesome to finally get his photography on some skis. This was our first ski that incorporated photos for the graphic and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

Released last winter in January 2019, five liquor stores throughout the interior of BC had the skis on display with an “Enter to Win” box conveniently located right beside. Five winners, one for each store, were chosen and the skis were handed off to their new owners accordingly. This campaign proved enormously successful and as a result, it’s coming back again this season.

This November, look for the latest “Enter to Win” boxes on display beside the Skevik x OK Spring Brewery skis in more liquor stores throughout BC. Locations have been set in Vernon, Revelstoke, North Vancouver and Squamish. Grab some beers, throw your name in the hat, as they say, and you may be sliding on one of these smooth looking OK Spring pair of Skevik’s by January. A perfect start to the new year.

We also added a couple of chances to win going into the New Year. Après-ski locations at Silver Star and Panorama will be running the "Enter to Win" until the end of January.
